MUSIC IN OUR CURRICULUM

Celebrating the musical flair of our children

Music is truly at the heart of our school as an integral part of our curriculum. We are committed to bringing children together, celebrating their musical flair, creating a sense of pride and remaining as a musical hub of our community. As part of our budget, we support a music teacher two days a week and we also have a strong relationship with the Bradford Music Service who support music in school.

For music alone, our wider opportunities comprise of: music services for daily peripatetic lessons, an orchestra, rock band, samba drumming, string group, ukele group choirs and curricular singing lessons, led by our in-house music specialist. We pride ourselves on our extensive musical curriculum, where every child who leaves our school will have learnt to play an instrument. All children access timetabled instrument lessons for three years and take their instruments home to practise. Furthermore, whole school singing takes place regularly within collective worship.

The residents of The Glen Nursing Home would like to thank the children for coming to sing for them at Christmas... they really enjoyed and appreciated the two performances. The Glen Nursing Home, December 2018

Above all, our renowned biannual winter and summer music concerts showcase our many ensembles and soloists – open to all, to raise money for charity or for developing our musical provision within school. Without doubt, these concerts proudly illustrate the exceptional talent of our students.
